On Sat, Nov. 21st many of our members attended the conference that we co-hosted with the East Aurora Church. Besides members of the Hamburg and East Aurora churches, the conference was attended by representatives from the UU Congregations of Jamestown, Fredonia, Albion, Athens-Sheshequin, Cortland, Niagara Falls, and more.
Workshops offered included: Barn-raising – connecting to other congregations, Joining the Family – getting from visitor to member, Telling our Stories – Themes and Lay Preaching, and It Takes a Village – Including Children
Our members left with lots of ideas and enthusiasm! The trick is to keep the ideas and enthusiasm going. Conversations may start circulating during coffee hours, so listen in and offer your input. Also, all are invited to a congregational discussion on Sunday, December 20th at 9am before church. Those who attended the conference can share their insights; we can discuss paths of action, and consider ideas for not only the immediate future, but some long-term goals for our community, as well. Look for such conversations to continue every other month as needed. Onward and Upward!
