FIRE PIT FRIDAYS
Our fire pit Fridays will be on July 15 and also on August 12, 7 – 9 p.m. Come join us in the garden for some s’mores. Bring your outdoor chairs. More in the fall when it gets darker sooner and there’s a little chill to the air.
Ministerial Musings
Greetings and Salutations. Welcome summer. We have waited a long, long time for this. Warmer weather and more time outside does our soul good. As we are out and about, let’s remember our ministry on the block. Take time to greet neighbors or those you pass by. Have intentional conversations with friends about the state of the world. Eat watermelon and sweet corn…just because. Rest, renew and recharge. We have a lot of work to do this fall as we connect with our Hamburg community to address racism and economic apartheid in WNY. It will not be easy work. But we are up for the task. So take time to smell the flowers, drink the lemonade, and enjoy the beautiful skies of summer. Rev Sue
SOCIAL ACTION
PROVIDENCE FARM COLLECTIVE was our charity for May and June. We are planning to attend a ”Walking Tour of their 37-acre farm” at 5701 Burton Road in Orchard Park on Thursday, July 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (716-473-9338) Tickets are $30.00. Get your ticket and call Marieanna or Wendy if you want to carpool. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes that you don”t mind getting dirty. – Expect a lot of walking and standing. Wear sunscreen and/or a hat and bring a drink. You may also bring a donation of shelf-stable food for the farmers and youth lunch program, such as: dried pinto beans, dried black-eyed peas, basmati rice, orzo, coconut milk, olive oil, canola oil.
SEVEN NATIONS FLAG
Have you seen our new SEVEN NATIONS FLAG? Did you know it represents the Iriqois Native Avericans that lived in this area?
The flag’s design is based on the Hiawatha Belt, a symbol which dates back to the original uniting of the five tribes of the Haudenosaunee. The wampum belt was a symbol of unity between the five (and later six) tribes for hundreds of years prior to its adaptation for use as a flag.
MORE SOCIAL ACTION – Supporting the Village of Hamburg Summer Concerts Remember when we made a contribution to the Village of Hamburg for its’ Summer Concert Series? Well, as a result we are co sponsors of the August 3rd program, the BOSTON TOWN BAND! On Wednesday, August 3rd, from 7-9 p.m. We will have a table that night with brochures or whatever. Be sure to come that night. It’s always pleasant evening, sitting in the park and relax together. And it’s a little publicity for our church!
NOTE FROM OUR TREASURER

Soon, I will mail out a pledge drive information sheet to members & friends who have not yet pledged. Or, just text me or email me your pledge
. Pledge payments and donations can be put into the Sunday plate collection. Or, sent to U.U. Church of Hamburg, P.O. Box 157, Hamburg, NY 14075. Thank you for your continuing support of the church!

BUILDING AND GROUNDS
GOOD NEWS! We have found someone to do our lawn. Our friendly neighbor, Bryan O’Connor, has volunteered to mow it whenever it needs it. We are so lucky to have such great neighbors. As he uses a ride on mower, we will have to do the Center Street curb lawn. Andy will donate a push mower to keep on the property. We will need a volunteer to do that. Talk to Marieanna or Andy if you can help out with that chore.
THANK YOU:
Neighbor, Bryan O’Connor, for volunteering to keep our lawn in shape.
Coffee Hour: Dave Persons & Lisa Maul, and Veronica Young.
The board for organizing and setting up for Nan’s Retirement Party, especially Janet Siulc for getting the food and Wendy Hvisdak for the punch, wine and decor
Those who supported the Pride In The Park Sunday Service and the day long Pride activities – Janet Siulc, Wendy & Andy Hvisdak, Veronica Young, Maria Pratt, Jerry Sauberan and Marieanna Elliott were there.
Reverend Susan Frawley, who initiated, coordinated, and ran the whole Pride in the Park Service!.
